I have developed a list of trades people with proven abilities to give almost any property a minor facelift or major surgery. My sources of original building materials and construction methods are extensive. My projects usually involve un-doing the “improvements” that the property has suffered since original construction.

When I was a kid my Dad and I use to visit several local house-wrecking yards in Pasadena and Monrovia so when I started buying houses I knew where to get just about any house part. Today those sources have disappeared. It is still possible to match most hardware and some used building materials are still available. Things such as windows, doors, and molding are usually purchased or custom made.
